Abstract
Web-based conference management systems coordinate submissions, reviews, decisions, and notifications across users with different responsibilities. A failure during a multi-step operation can leave partial records, duplicate actions, or confusing user feedback. This paper presents a resilient workflow architecture for browser-based conference platforms. The design combines explicit workflow states, idempotent service operations, recoverable drafts, and client-side navigation guards. We evaluate the architecture with a prototype that models paper submission and reviewer assignment. In a synthetic fault-injection study, the proposed design reduced unrecoverable partial operations from 7.8 percent to 0.4 percent and improved successful recovery after a temporary network interruption from 68.2 percent to 96.7 percent. The results suggest that a small set of workflow-oriented engineering practices can substantially improve reliability without making the user interface more complex.
